Here's a Small Sampling of the Projects We've Worked On. . .
Ipod Interface
We designed the firmware for an interface to allow browsing an Apple iPod from an OEM car radio.
In addition the radio will display song information such as title, artist, album genre and playlist.
Development was done in 'C' using Hi-Tech's PICC-18 compiler.
Industrial UV Lamp
Controller
This project involved the design and development of the firmware for a Industrial UV Lamp
Controller based on a PIC 18F452. The core of the project was SCI's High Performance Embedded Kernel . The project
also included development of a PC based program for testing and configuring the
controller.
Web Servers
We've developed numerous Web Servers for various applications including remote
monitoring, diagnostics and control. These have run on both PC's as well as embedded
systems. We can develop a custom solution to meet you specific needs and objectives.

Residential Access
Control System
When Marlee Electronics, one of the leading Building Access Control
manufacturers, decided to enter the residential access control market they turned to
Software Concepts to produce a low-cost design. We designed both the hardware
and firmware for this product and worked with a local contract assembly house to get it
into production.
Satellite
Head-End Control
Following the successful introduction of their Digital Satellite Transcoder, Blonder Tongue
- the industry's leading supplier - came to Software Concepts to design an application for Remote
Control and Administration of their headend systems. SCI produced two versions of the
application for them. The first was a dedicated desktop application for dial-in
connections while the other, based on our Micro Web
Server™, is for always-on connections. We went on to develop more than half-a-dozen remote
monitoring & control products that span their entire product range. Using a common hardware platform
and our Micro Web Server core, we were able to keep cost down and introduce new products quickly.
Personal
PBX System
Realizing the need for a easy-to-use telephone management system for Home Offices and
large residences, Software Concepts developed an entry level PBX system. Using
SCI's High Performance Embedded Kernel this
system packs a lot of features into a small, low cost box. In the final phases of
development, this product will be available later this year through selected dealers.

Automation Controllers
Software Concepts has been developing automation control applications for more than two
decades. One of the first commercially available applications was our DOS Home
Controller - an MS/DOS based program for control via the X10 interface. Since
then we've developed several other automation applications and soon we'll be debuting
our Micro Web Server™ based
home controller.
Color
Measuring Instruments
Software Concepts has completed a number of projects for a variety of color measuring
instruments including Colorimeters, Densitometers
and Spectrophotometers.
These products have ranged from low cost color sensors to laboratory grade
spectrophotometers. Our expertise in the field of color instrumentation spans two
decades, and we've done work for some of the world's leading instrument
manufacturers. Our Color Chip sensor has
been used in numerous applications including sorting, product identification and color QC.
Scanning Instruments
We've developed scanning instruments for several different companies. Products have
included Scanning densitomers, scanning spectrophotometers, Electrophoresis
plate scanners, and currency scanners. These have employed several different
motor designs including, stepper, servo, AC and DC drives.
Workcell Robot
Controller
When MEGAmation Inc., an innovative workcell robot manufacturer, decided to upgrade
its product offering it called upon Software Concepts to architect their new front
end. SCI was responsible for the overall design of the Windows NT based front end as
well as the interface to the Cimetrix backend. The result was
an award winning design unequaled in performance or usability.
Point-of-Sale
Video Advertising
We've designed several video-based, point-of-sale advertising systems. These have
included both PC based systems as well as embedded system designs. Our Micro Web Server™ has been used as a
controller in Ethernet controlled video display systems used in the retail environment.
Sales
Commission Calculator
Although financial applications aren't our forte, we couldn't refuse when SAP America
invited us to design a state-of-art commission calculation system for them. With
hundreds of commissioned employees and dozens of compensation plans, their existing system
was grossly inadequate - requiring the program to be modified every time a commission plan
changed. Software Concepts designed a new application around a custom designed Calculation
Engine that allows plan changes to be made in minutes - without requiring changes to
the program. This has allowed SAP America to change plans more often and thereby
increase sales through new incentive programs.
